A spider
A spider doesn’t have a soul as man and the higher animals do. A spider is animated by a ‘life force’.
The life force gives life to the spider. It is surrounded by a subconscious mind. This subconscious mind contains guidelines on how the spider’s life has to unfold. Because of these guidelines, the spider instinctively knows how to live, how to build a web, that it has to flee when in danger, what it can eat, how to procreate. These guidelines give rise to the spider’s instinct and thus instinct is not caused by the genes or the brain. The subconscious mind also contains information on diseases that can occur, situations that can happen. It is this information that causes certain diseases and certain situations to occur.
Apart from the information present in the subconscious mind, which steers the spider’s life, the life force is capable of perceiving the environment. The life force is not aware that it’s alive, so the spider is not aware that it’s alive. A spider’s body lives because of the life force that animates it, and the spider survives because of the instinct, which dictates how to live, and because of its ability to perceive the environment through its life force and its senses. A spider’s consciousness is the same as that of a plant, except for the fact that a spider can also move.
A spider
The spider is alert, on its guard because of its instinct (it is not conscious). It is probably on the alert in every situation, also when it rests. It is actively engaged in perceiving, on the basis of its life force and its senses, and it knows what action or what direction to take based on its perceptions. Through body sensors that perceive vibrations, it knows where to find food. And it has a dim sense of sight, it perceives light and darkness.

A fly
The fly is exploring the environment above and aside from it through smells and vibrations which it can absorb and which are emanated by particles in the air, it is trying to perceive what is present in the surrounding air. It is exploring the environment for food. It is guided towards food by smells and particles in the air. Its sense of touch provides information about the surface it is on. I don’t sense that this fly perceives through the life force, perception happens with the body. However, I have sensed other flies that perceive through the life force.
A beetle
The beetle perceives and assesses the environment through the life force’s ability of perception and by perceiving vibrations with its body. That’s how it knows which way to go. It can find food through its perception of vibrations and its sense of smell. It holds on firmly to the stalk (sense of touch and instinct).
A caterpillar
The caterpillar perceives the environment through sensors in its body (sense of touch), and through the perception of vibrations in the environment which it can perceive with its body, as a result of which it can assess the environment and know which way to go. It can distinguish different smells so that it knows what it can eat. And it also perceives through the life force.
